Junior Capstone Unit 2
In this junior unit, scholars will trace the journey of food from the farm to the table, examining each step in the supply chain. They will think critically about issues of fairness and equity in how food moves into communities. Scholars will also explore the financial literacy and economic factors—such as production costs, pricing, and market access—that shape food distribution and community impact.
Advance Capstone Unit 1
In this advanced unit, scholars will dive deeper into the Farm Bill by examining the individual farm titles and evaluating the policies within them. They will explore how grants and loans are used to sustain farm operations and support long‑term land ownership. Scholars will also analyze the financial and economic barriers that have historically excluded marginalized communities from accessing these resources and building generational land legacy.
In this advanced unit, scholars will explore rural development and the growing role of data centers in agricultural communities. They will examine the financial realities of land ownership, including costs, equity considerations, and pathways to sustaining property over time. Scholars will also build budgeting skills by planning the financial operations of a farm and understanding how economic decisions impact long‑term growth and stability.
